I don't diet because frankly I don't need too, not because I am too lazy but because I don't need to so I don't follow the Atkins, Yoyo, or Vomiting diet what so ever. Diet experts are constantly drilling "tasty alternatives" into the people who want or need to either lose weight or change their eating habits. Healthy food I know is definitely the way to go, but do these experts think we are fools. Rye crackers and ham is not near as tasty as streaky bacon and ketchup between two slices of white sliced bread I am no fool, I have sampled both and the bacon and ketchup sambo won over easily. In fact my last bacon sambo was just Saturday gone by. So I am afraid the Rye crackers and ham is not a tasty alternative for bacon.
Another tasty alternative is Grapes instead of crisps (or chips for our North American friends). Now I love grapes, stones and all (I'm too lazy to spit them out) especially the fat green ones they taste so sweet and can be very addictive but I also love crisps. In fact I adore crisps, thick salt and vinegar crisps or those smelly prawn cocktail ones anything goes except the plain ones. As I said grapes are delicious but are they an alternative to crisps...for me! nope!...and I am sure for many others too.
So now on to the Diet recipes the experts inflict on the dieters, here is one such recipe which really makes a delicious afternoon snack and you will never want to indulge in beans on toast after this scrumptious alternative.

Prep. time; 5 min

2 pieces of 3 ply cardboard (the thick stuff with they squiggly layer in the middle)
Low fat butter
Packed ham
Onion

Method;
Cut the cardboard with a knife or strong scissors into 2"x4 3/4" rectangles,
Butter thinly with pale low fat butter, add one small skinny slice of ham and garnish with a slice of onion and enjoy.

Such recipes are simple to make and are very tasty, the cardboard will help with your bowel movements (like toast will, as cardboard is full of fibre and the onion will replace the beans as a gas reliever). The ham should add a small bit of flavour but it may not.

I do eat healthy myself but I believe that every one of us should be allowed have the occasional treat. We should also be allowed enjoy our food without feeling stigmatised. I eat greasy chips but not enough to make me fat. I eat sweets and chocolate but not overly so. I don't eat salad much because i'm not gone on its flavour but that doesn't mean I don't look after myself. I eat food that is unhealthy but I also eat more healthy food too, not because some dietitian told me so but because I have the common sense to know that too much of anything is unhealthy.
Its a case where the doctor tells you to drink plenty of orange juice while the dentist tells you it will erode your teeth. So who do we listen to, the dentist, the doctor or the dietitian. Its hard to know because they all seem to contradict each other in some form.
Once you enjoy your food without having too much of one thing and too little of another you shouldn't have to diet or get rid of the simple pleasures in life!
Chocolate still tastes good and crisps go well with Maltesers, lettuce and ham are good together but so is bacon and ketchup.

Introduction

This is my first Blog,
Each week, or at least as often as I can I will write a short story on people and things which I have observed so far in my life. Whether it be when I was on a bus, in school or on holidays...each one has formed some sort of significance, big or small in my mind so I now feel it is time to write them down. Not in case I forget but so I can share them. Some stories will be humorous others will be sad and sometimes there will be no truth at all...just a work of fiction.
So as you read my stories, take from them what you wish...believe them to be fact or believe them to be fiction but most of all take them in and enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
But please do remember this; none of these stories are about you!
